GREEN or BLUE?

I accompanied Cara today to the GREEN school to attend a pre-orientation that the Computer Science Dept. conducted for its accepted applicants into their freshman undergraduate program.

To begin with, I had very strong preferences for the BLUE school. But deep down, I knew she ultimately would have to make her own choice. It’s her future, after all….

To be honest, the GREEN school did a good job of introducing us to the school. They came prepared with videos and sample projects of their IT students (many of which were in the realm of gaming software — which immediately caught the interest of practically everyone in the room). Cara was enthralled by the media side of it which included animation, photography, etc.

We ended with a campus tour which brought us to most of the nooks and crannies of the school. In terms of longevity and reputation, I must say they hold the record for being an established IT institution. They lay claim to many firsts.

But the BLUE school has a fairly new, popular and rapidly growing Information Design program meant to cater to the expected demand for IT/multimedia graduates. And, the campus is my dream campus as it reminds me so much of my campus abroad (lots of trees, lawns, fantastic library, cozy hangouts, great faculty, etc). And….it is easier to bring her to this school compared to braving the horrendous traffic going to the GREEN school.

Lastly, having a daughter already in the BLUE school, I can’t imagine how we’d manage having Cara in the GREEN school (opposite ends of town, ONE car!). And come UAAP time, I can just imagine the debates we will be having at home as the basketball teams of these 2 long-time competitors come face to face in fierce battle. SPARE ME!!!!

So…..it is now coming very close to a toss-up. What do you think? GREEN or BLUE?

Let me know what you think!
