“Buffet” is a term meaning endless choices and is often associated with lunch or dinner. But believe it or not, there is now such a thing as a dessert buffet. And none other than Diamond Hotel lays claim to being Manila’s dessert Mecca.
Last Friday, son M2 and I hied over to the Archaeology Strip of Rockwell Power Plant Mall to be part of the launching of the Cake Club of Diamond Hotel.
When we got there, bloggers were already seated around the pastry shop. Waiters from Diamond Hotel including their 2 chefs hovered over us. Good thing we did not eat dinner first because each one of us was given a bento box filled with yummy Japanese food.
I spotted several familiar faces among the bloggers: Noemi, Lauren, Marielli, Arpee & wife, AJ, Jayvee, Phoebe, Rachel (Mrs. Awesome Planet), Ajay. And later, I met Bambi with whom we had interesting conversations about makeup.
Our pretty Chinese emcee led us through some games. In one of them I found myself grouped with Arpee, Noemi and daughters and M2. We were given a slice from a new dessert concoction and had to guess the 5 kinds of nuts in them.
Well, we thought we had it in the bag but another group turned out better than us. They got it perfectly!!! We missed the pine nuts! No one minded though because the dessert was so yummy that we continued picking at it until only crumbs were left.
In the trivia game, I got an answer correct and promptly won a gift certificate for 2 (lunch or dinner buffet) at Diamond Hotel’s Palm Court Cafe. WOWEE!
Of course, a cake launch like this could only be capped by what else? A taste test of the wide array of desserts available. And what a spread we had before our eyes! Just see this…
M2 must have really enjoyed himself because he came over and whispered “Mom, it was worth missing all my TV shows tonight!” π
And the surprises did not stop there. We went away with 3 boxes of sample cakes (5 different cake slices to a box!!!). Everyone at home was then able to taste a little bit of heaven.
(Diamond Hotel offers five different buffet packages. Each type of buffet is flexible enough for a grand wedding or an intimate affair at home. The best thing is that you can place your order right at the Cake Club at Rockwell. They will deliver these mouth-watering desserts right to your door in Diamond’s fleet of temperature-controlled vans. Call (632) 528-3000 or (632) 305-3000.
The cakes are really yummy! Glad M2 enjoyed. Sugar rush made him a happy boy π
Jane: Yes, he was one happy boy that night! π And I guess so were all of us. Those cakes were diabetically scrumptious!
